How to do the installation of an outside SSL certificate

The steps involved in purchasing and installing a third-party certificate are as follows:

Generate a private key.

Create a Certificate Signing Request (CSR) using the private key and a few identifying details.

Send the Certificate Signing Request to the certificate authority.

As specified by the Certificate Authority, carry out one or more of the processes for identification and confirmation.

Install the certificate and Certificate Authority Package, if one is offered, from the certificate authority.

If you already have an SSL certificate for your domain from another vendor, only the last installation step is required. You need the private key from which the existing certificate was generated, along with the certificate and any Certificate Authority bundle, in order to successfully install an existing certificate.
